I feel privileged to be re-joining the Health Services team, to contribute towards the very important work that NZAF does to support meaningful change in Aotearoa.
I have a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Counselling and have international experience working within social, health care, not-for-profit and voluntary sectors. I have extensive experience working within the LGBTIQA+ community in various specialist roles and organisations and much of my focus has been working alongside MSM to facilitate change, enhance wellbeing and strengthen authentic living.
I bring with me a deep level of compassion and understanding about the unique complexities of navigating identity and sexual health within this community.
I previously worked at the Burnett Centre as a counsellor from 2007-2013 and since this time HIV has changed a lot. Unfortunately, what has not changed is the stigma and discrimination that people living with HIV face. I am passionate about addressing the stigma that still exists and increasing access to and improving the delivery of support services that give every person the right to a life of freedom and equality without discrimination or barriers to wellbeing.
