Where Else Can I Get Tested?

If you think you have have been exposed to HIV or another STI, there are numerous services offering HIV and STI testing over the Christmas New Year period.

  • Your local GP or medical centre
  • Sexual Health Clinics

GP or Medical Centre

Call your doctor or medical centre to check their hours of operation. They often have a small team of people working over the holiday period and may be able to provide restricted or full services during this time.

Sexual Health Clinics

Most main centres in NZ will have a Sexual Health clinic.

PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis)

If you believe you have definately been exposed to HIV within the last 72 hours, you can contact your local hospital, your GP or your partner's GP or HIV specialist to enquire about PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis), a prescribed course of antiretroviral treatment.  PEP must be taken within 72 hours of exposure. PEP should not be considered a viable option in place of condoms. Always use condoms and lube every time you have sex.

Have a safe and happy holiday!
