New HIV Insights launched by NZAF

Posted by admin / Return to news

The New Zealand AIDS Foundation is launching a series of public discussions on HIV.

The inaugural HIV Insights forum will take place on 18 October at the New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) National Office in Auckland.
It will be an opportunity for some of New Zealand’s most respected HIV professionals to get together to share the latest research, themes and responses to HIV with members of gay communities and people interested in HIV and healthcare.
This initiative is being developed and led by Tony Hughes, NZAF Research Director, and Dr Peter Saxton, NZAF Senior Researcher. They will also be inviting guest speakers to present at future sessions.
A range of topics are being covered at the first session, including general patterns of HIV transmission, drawing comparisons from the Australian HIV experience, and taking a historical look at HIV in San Francisco during the 1980s. Tony will also touch on the international trend of STI increases in gay men over the last decade.
Tony Hughes says: “We’ll be using these discussions to raise awareness of HIV transmission, prevention and treatment in New Zealand and open a new dialogue with leading HIV professionals.”

The first talk is being held on 18 October at 6pm at the New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) National Office, 31‐35 Hargreaves Street, Ponsonby, Auckland.
Light refreshment will be provided. If you would like to attend please RSVP by emailing Jason Myers, NZAF Policy Analyst, on .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or calling 09 300 6964.
