Valeriano Incapas, our Community Engagement Co-ordinator based in Auckland, says that our first condom packing night of 2010 was incredible.
“We had a full house on Wednesday – around 22 volunteers came! Some were even holiday makers from the USA and Argentina! They found out about our volunteer night through the internet. Our volunteers made up 5,000 condom packs in just under two hours. They’re really becoming experts in condom packing.
“The mother of one of our volunteers came, because she was curious about what her son and his partner do every Wednesday night. The photographer from Express magazine was also here, and took some photos of all of us – hopefully they’ll appear in the next issue of Express.
“A huge thanks to the team here at NZAF - Jordon, Maihi, Elton (and Maihi’s brother!) for helping out!”.
Condom packing takes place every Wendesday between 5.30 and 7.30pm in NZAF National Office in Auckland and NZAF South/Te Toka. You can help out in Wellington, too – our Wellington based volunteers pack condoms in the NZAF Āwhina Centre every Friday. If you’re interested in attending, contact us for details. Alternatively just come along, and bring your mates!
