Kate is based four days a week at the Burnett Centre, Auckland, where she is part of the Positive Health Services team.
Kate has a Bachelor of Education, a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and is currently completing her Masters in Counselling. Prior to working at the NZAF Burnett Centre Kate worked at GLCS (Gay and Lesbian counselling service) in Sydney. While Kate draws on various modalities her prime approach is client centred and works with elements of psychodynamic, CBT, Gestalt, Narrative and creative therapies, selecting appropriate strategies guided by individual context and need. She brings with her a deep level of compassion and respect for people and her focus is on providing a confidential and nurturing space where individuals feel heard, acknowledged and supported in their journey towards creating constructive change in life and relationships and gaining a deeper self understanding.
