Simon trained in social work, and has worked in social work, youth work and health care policy, planning and funding. He has worked in the New Zealand and UK public health sectors, and in NGOs in both in New Zealand and overseas.
Simon managed the Hutt Valley Youth Health Service (VIBE) for four years, and is a past President of the peak body for the youth sector, NZAAHD. In London, Simon led the planning and funding of mental health, sexual health, HIV, learning disability, older people’s services, child and youth health, public health and substance misuse services for a London Primary Care Trust.
Simon returned to New Zealand in April 2008 to take up this position with NZAF, where he leads the NZAF HIV prevention, international development, fundraising and communications work.
