The sun may be setting on the Big Day Out but the country’s premiere gay event, the Get it On! Big Gay Out couldn’t be stronger with a top line up set to wow the crowds this weekend....
Kudakwashe Tuwe is originally from Zimbabwe. He came to New Zealand almost ten years ago, as a Migrant.
He is responsible for managing the HIV prevention programme for all African Communities based in New Zealand.
Before joining the NZAF, he served as a member of the NZAF African Health Promotion Programme (AHPP) Advisory Board, since its inception in 2005.Prior to that, he was involved in the inauguration of the now vibrant Zimbabwe Association in Wellington (ZimDare), as a Sub-Committee Chairperson responsible for Immigration Issues and Lobbying with New Zealand Government departments.
While living in Zimbabwe, Tuwe worked in a variety of industries, including banking, accounting, human resources and sales and marketing. Professionally Tuwe holds, among others, the following qualifications:
Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
Postgraduate in Health Research
Postgraduate in International Refugee Management
Higher Diploma in Human Resources Management - MIPMZ
Diploma in Accounting - FICB (SA).
He is a Full Member of the Institute of Personnel Management of Zimbabwe MIPMZ and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers of South Africa FICB (SA). He is also a former member of New Zealand Institute of Human Resources (NZIHR). Currently, Tuwe is studying for a Postgraduate qualification with a focus on African Health Promotion.
Tuwe is passionate about social justice, human rights issues, advocacy and politics .Tuwe says “My life role models are Dr Martin Luther King jnr, Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi and Barrack Obama”.
Tuwe says “my dream is to see members of the African Communities properly settling in New Zealand and becoming successful in businesses, commerce and politics. He is happily married to Annette and they have two lovely children, Makanaka and Munashe.
