Kathryn joined the NZAF Trust Board as an appointed member in February 2010. She was born and grew up in the UK but calls the West Coast of the South Island home. She is currently a Director of Asher Services providing consultancy and management support to the not-for-profit sector.

With over 15 years’ experience of work in the drug and alcohol field, Kathryn is an experienced practitioner and senior manager. She has worked in both community and prison settings in the UK, providing abstinence and harm reduction services including the delivery of HIV education, support and advocacy for clients living with HIV. Kathryn has provided consultancy and training services internationally including work in Eastern Europe and Central Asia as well as work with United Nations Office of Drug Control as part of the Treatnet programme.

Kathryn has delivered LGBT youth services and served on the board of LGBT organisations in the UK where she also advocated for the development of accessible LGBT-relevant services at a national and international level.

Running the Soweto marathon alongside the young people from the Themba HIV/AIDS Organisation in Johannesburg, South Africa has been one of the highlights of her life.
Kathryn is looking forward to supporting the important work of the NZAF and considers it a privilege to serve the community through undertaking the role of Trustee.
