As previously advised, there are three vacancies for elected Trustee positions on the NZAF Trust Board, for a two-year term beginning in November 2018.

There are nine candidates for the three elected Trustee positions (in alphabetical order):

  • Timothy Bennett
  • Nathan Brown
  • Justin Connolly
  • Edward Coughlan
  • Sam Humphrey
  • Ian Kaihe-Wetting
  • Carol Lucas
  • Andrew Mackenzie
  • Ben Mander

The candidates’ statements are provided in the Documentation section below.

Only members who were members as at Monday 17 September 2018, and are not current NZAF paid staff members, may vote in the election. Voting opened on Wednesday 17 October and closes at 5pm on Thursday 15 November 2018.  Please make sure that you vote before then. If you do not, your vote will not be counted.

NB: If you have not received your invitation to vote via email, but believe you are eligible to do so, please contact the Trust Board Secretary as soon as possible at virginia.cattell@nzaf.org.nz.

The election is conducted on a first-past-the-post basis.  The three candidates with the highest number of votes will be deemed the successful candidates.  If there is a tie, a Special General Meeting (SGM) will be called.

The results of the election will be announced at the AGM on 17 November 2018.

Finally, this is my last year as Chair of the NZAF, after almost six years on the NZAF Board and four years as Chair. In this time we have faced a number of significant challenges, but we have also been presented with many new opportunities. I am proud of our work to address these challenges and opportunities, including our revised strategy that has seen a reduction in new HIV infections and our restructure that has ensured that the organisation is financially sustainable. Please read our Annual Report for more details.

Thank you once again for your commitment to NZAF.  We look forward to seeing you at the AGM.

Nāku noa, nā

David Friar

Chair, NZAF Trust Board
