Started in 1983, the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial takes place every third Sunday in May and is led by a coalition of some 1,200 community organisations in 115 countries hosting local memorials that honour the lost and raise awareness about HIV.

The New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) has joined with Wellington Sexual Health Services to provide a full sexual health screening service for men at the NZAF Āwhina Centre in Wellington. The weekly Sexual Health Clinics will take place every Wednesday between 4pm and 7pm.

There were a record number of new HIV diagnoses in New Zealand in 2008. To mark World AIDS Day the New Zealand AIDS Foundation proudly distribute red ribbons in exchange for donations. Show your support by wearing a red ribbon this World AIDS Day.
